Climate change



Washington - Secretary of Commerce of the United States, Gary Locke, said at the UN Conference on Climate Change held in Copenhagen that the world has within reach the possibility of simultaneously achieving environmental and economic performance, but only if the the help of thepolitical power.


"If we undertake serious action to combat climate change, not only we will bequeath a cleaner planet and healthier for our children, but we will lay the foundation for decades of sustainable global prosperity," Locke said at the conference on December 11 .

"What is needed is nothing less than an entirely new way of thinking about the way we produce and consume energy," he said in his address to the 192 delegations attending the largest ever international conference on global warming .


For over a century, most of the world has enjoyed luxuries that have triggered the greatest economic growth in history and abundant cheap fossil fuels like oil, coal and natural gas, and no concern or knowledge regarding the impact of emissions of greenhouse gases caused by burning fossil fuels, Locke said the delegates. opening the doors to change of mind, neccesary to change the future of our unique and poluted planet
